West Shore Career-Technical District – How does it work?

West Shore offers two-year programs beginning in the 11th grade*. The 10th grade year is the time students apply to enter a program for their 11th and 12th grade years.  Interested students apply online HERE.  Space is limited in each program and all programs are in high demand.  Students are admitted on a first-come, first-qualified basis.  It is highly recommended to apply early so not to be closed out of a program.

Students attend West Shore classes at Lakewood High School.  Bay Village, Rocky River and Westlake students ride a school bus to/from Lakewood High from their home high school or drive individually after completing the necessary paperwork.  The bus schedule brings the students to Lakewood High for four periods.  If the West Shore program is less than four periods, students can enroll in Lakewood High courses during their free period(s).

* There are two exceptions to the two-year programs:
Engineering Technology (Project Lead the Way) - Lakewood students are able to begin Project Lead the Way in their freshman year taking one or two classes per year.
Electronic Engineering Technology - Lakewood students are able to begin Electronic Technology in their sophomore year taking Pre-Engineering Technologies.
