Trio Earn National Culinary Contest Honors

Congratulations to West Shore Career-Tech Culinary students Carys Crone, Finn Getz, and Htoo Lweh Wah or earning honors in the Family Career and Community Leadership Association's national competition held in July! Htoo Wah and Carys earned a silver category rating (approx. 80-89% score) and Finn Getts earned a bronze rating (approx. 70-79%). The trio earned spots in the FCCLA contest by finishing in the top three in the state competition: Finn placed first, Htoo Wah placed second, and Carys placed third. Way to go, all!

MEMS Awarded $20,000 LCCC Grant

Our MEMS program has been awarded a $20,000 grant through Lorain County Community College as part of a regional workforce initiative. This funding is supported through a combination of Department of Energy-backed programming and the Northeast Ohio Semiconductor Workforce Consortium. The grant will support: 

  • Expansion of hands-on, work-based learning opportunities
  • Development of scalable training models aligned with industry needs
  • Increased access to real-world experiences and career pathways for students

WEST SHORE CAREER-TECHNICAL DISTRICT

On March 16, The Rotary Club of Lakewood and Rocky River hosted its 28th annual West Shore Career-Technical District Outstanding Student Awards at their weekly luncheon, and honored 14 West Shore students. At this event, Rotary members, educators, and families come together to celebrate student achievements and highlight the value of career-technical education in preparing students for future careers and continued learning.
